The Big Body Games (BBG) are an event based upon three founding principles: athleticism, dexterity, and sportsmanship. This proven trifecta brings athletes together in a weekend-long, eventfilled tournament of backyard sports and healthy competition, with the goal of fostering both an aggressive athletic atmosphere and an environment founded on fraternity and camaraderie.
Like classic Zeppelin, he's well rounded, bringing the heavy hitters when needed and demonstrating a touch of lightness to change things up. You can't hit what you can't see. Keep him squinting, change the lighting, and most of all, work the angles. Do this, and he won't be able to overcome his standing home field advantage.
A seasoned veteran with a tenacity for getting down and dirty. Known for calf slaps and big body moves. The key to beating this opponent is to get him hungry, distract with scents of bacon and other cured meats.
Exuberant and always on his game - the "play time kid" has a history of success. This southpaw continues to impress. Not built for endurance - a wet noodle lower back and inability to consume more than 300 calories in one sitting leave him exposed for tournament play. He also has a tenuous history of travel - HAPE and food poisoning in the cards
A low center of gravity is hardly enough to keep this athlete grounded - he may be the greatest diva we've seen to date. That said, he's moved to warmer climates, giving him year-round accessibility for training. Will the South rise again? Keeping him in a hostile state of existence is critical for defeating him... just ask his wife
He goes by one name and one name only - he's the group's Madonna, Cher, Coolio. Known for his patented Base Layer (TM), keeping things moist is his specialty. Can the opposition keep him dry (or at least filibuster until his bedtime hits)? What he lacks in coordination he makes up for in high-pitched screeches; Mr. Picca is certainly one to keep an eye on as the competition progresses.
Theo really puts the "Dr" in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. We've seen some questionable performances of late - fighting off the night shift blues is a struggle for him. Given a full 8 hours of sleep he can still be a force to be reckon with. Easily rattled with trash talk. The less cogent the better. This ivy-leaguer won't be able to prescribe his way out of this one.
Has shown flashes of brilliance but still hasn't come into his own. One has to wonder if he is washed up or a budding star waiting to break out of his shell. He struggles when faced with an onslaught of spelling, grammar, and pronunciation challenges. Rumors are that his body is fighting back against him, from heart attacks to allergies to peanut butter.
Eric/Panarello vs Eliot/Picca
Eric and Panarello are arguably two of the biggest bodies in the games this year but unfortunately for them Polish Horseshoes might not be the ideal pairing. Sharp shooter Johnson will look to take care of business early and Picca will secure his first W in the match up against his roommate.
Prediction: Eliot/Picca 21 – Big Body Duo 14
Eliot/Joe vs Tim/Eric
Eric is the sleeper of this year’s tournament. His success of winning it all will hinge on getting a couple of wins in these early matchups. Some might say the pairing process was rigged against him as Tim will most likely not pull his weight. Folks this one is not going to be close.
Prediction: Eliot/Joe 21 – Tim/Eric 6
Nick/Theo vs Picca/Eliot
The last time these four met on the field tragedy almost struck. Eliot’s words to Panarello that day may be the reason he is still alive. Theo’s back finally starts to loosen up in this matchup and he will look to cement his mark on the tournament. The doctors will prescribe their way out of this one with a comfortable win. Johnson loses a bet to Panarello and tells him he loves him one last time.
Prediction: Dr. Nick/Dr. Theo 21 – Picca/Eliot 15
Pan/Eric vs Tim/Joe
The odds were not in Panarello and Eric’s favor in this one. Rumors are a side bet has already been made that Joe and Tim will not lose their serve. This game has the potential for the first forfeit of the BBG as a teammate collision is almost imminent.
Prediction: Tim/Joe 21 – Eric/Panarello 4
Joe/Panarello vs Tim/Nick
It’s over before it started. With Picca napping and Tim more likely to hit his own cup than the opponents, Joe and Panarello just got to show up for this one.
Prediction: Joe/Panarello 11- Tim/Nick 2
Eric/Picca vs Joe/Theo
After 5 years of living together Picca and Eric have been through it all. The roommates will put the infighting aside and pull together the biggest upset of the games. A quick start flusters Theo and Joe and they do not have enough in the reserves to dig out of this one.
Prediction: Roommates 11 – Dream Team 8
Tim/Theo vs Picca/Joe
I think it’s fair to say at this point in the games Picca is mathematically out of contention from winning it all. His losing ways will rub off on Joe and the boys from Maine will capitalize early. There is a chance Joe will single handedly lead a comeback but Picca’s lack of groceries will leave him hungry.
Win prediction: Tim/Theo
Eric/Panarello vs Picca/Eliot
I can’t see a better opportunity for the big body duo to win their first match up together. This may be the most even match up of the tournament. The peanut gallery will be watching this one on their feet. Eric hits his stride late in the game and Panarello harnesses his high school baseball pitching accuracy and they secure a much needed tourney win.
Win prediction: Big Body Duo
Theo/Joe vs the Nicks
Chances are Theo and Joe will be neck in neck in points at this point in the games. They both will have hit their groove and the Nicks will not stand a chance. I’m predicting a goose egg in this one and I think we can all guess what team that will be.
Prediction: Theo/Joe 21 – The Nicks 0
Picca/Joe vs Eliot/Panarello
One has to feel bad for Eliot in this game. Panarello continuously calls out to Jordy in attempts to make up for whatever he does the previous night. Joe excels per usual but Eliot and Panarello don’t go away without a fight. This one is going into OT. Picca ends the game as the hero and swishes it for three. He leaves the BBG on a high note with the hope for a better showing in 2022.
Prediction: Picca/Joe 25 – Eliot/Panarello 22
